Banyan Tree Adds New Japanese Chef

The exclusive Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul, which is set to fully open its doors at the end of March 2010, announced that Takashi Ando has been added to its veteran culinary team. Highly skilled in creating traditional Japanese cuisine, Mr. Ando brings a wealth of experience from successful postings in Dubai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Along with his training in classic Japanese cuisine, he specializes in the preparation of sushi, sashimi, donburi and soba dishes.

“I am honored to join the Banyan Tree Club and Spa Seoul as the Japanese chef and as a member of this world-class team,” said Mr. Ando. “My aim is to provide all members and guests with a culinary experience that is special and remembered.”

“The addition of Takashi Ando is special and he complements our current team of Kjell Kollin, executive chef, and Jae-hyun Kang, executive sous chef,” explained Stefan Thumiger, general manager. “As part of our strategy to be a truly global club, we will continue to expand our international team to provide the highest quality of service and hospitality.”

Located at the foot of scenic Namsan Mountain across from the National Theater, the exclusive Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul will offer all members an urban oasis sanctuary with new state-of-the-art leisure facilities and services, all of which are part of the group’s signature brand of Asian-style hospitality.
