Keep it Movin’ Folks!

Keep it Movin’ Folks!

So you’re walking through a crowded subway station and you feel as if you were to stop you would get pummeled by everyone else keeping with the momentum of the herd. You can’t just stop! That would be dangerous. As the scenes of the Running of the Bulls are about to escape your thoughts, you notice one or more Korean people stopped in the middle of the crowd. I’ve actually seen a family sitting on their luggage in the middle of Express Bus Terminal. The most mind-boggling thing isn’t that people don’t get run over, it’s that nobody makes a fuss.

Sexy Seoul

Sexy Seoul

Words by Samantha Dix-Hill, Illustration by Hyeon-seong Ryu I recently had the dubious pleasure of seeing Seoul through the eyes of my 21-year-old son. He has been studying in Wales, and one of the many things I’ve noticed since he left my protective custody is that we no longer speak the same language. When I [...]

High Heel Trash Service

High Heel Trash Service

If you’ve been in Korea long enough to notice peoples shoes, you’re sure to have observed the overwhelming population of high heels. Not only are there more pumps than a girl would know what to do with, but if you stop and listen… you can hear the pitter-patter of ladies walking, jogging, running, dancing, jumping, leaping, spinning, sliding, galloping, marching and probably moonwalking in high heels. Overcoming My Drug Habit

Overcoming My Drug Habit

I like drugs. When I have aches and pains I don’t want to sip peppermint tea, chamomile tea, or some other fandangled new age remedy. I want codeine, morphine and any phine that will relieve me of my agony as quickly as possible. Fortunately, and much to my husband’s delight, I’m not the headache type, [...]
